 2010 HOOD Family Campout
The distraction has been hard at work setting up the details for a Summer 2010 HOOD Family & Kids Campout. The most important thing is that you reserve your camping spot soon, as they will sell out. Here is the rough information I have so far. I will be making a dedicate page for this soon, but I wanted to post this for now so you could all get your spots before the sell out. Please note Everyone signs up on their own for their campsites. Idaho State Parks only allow reservations nine months in advance. It only costs $10.00 to reserever a spot. You are more than welcome to share spots with anyone, just make sure you set that up yourself. More details to be worked out soon, but for now please get your reserved spot or you won't have a place to camp. Updated list of attendies:- SomeCallMeTim (Martin) Family Camp - Site 050
- RynDog (Ryno) / HowieTim (Hathaway) Family Camp - Site 051

Sweet. And I should note this is a Kids/Family event. If you don't have kids, you are still more than welcome to attend, but note this is not some kegger or major party your used too. We will be doing a ton of Family events, hiking, fishing, all that stuff. Nature is calling on HOOD.

Re: The Great HOOD Family & Kids Campout
Hmm.. Went to the website.. Gotta wait til October 18th to make the reservation since it's 2 nights and you can only make reservations 9 months (exactly) in advance.

Re: The Great HOOD Family & Kids Campout
You are correct LCG -- this is why we are trying to get an early start. The Spots at Farragut fill up FAST. You'll be surprised. Plus, you can cram more than one family into a site. Usually. For only a few bucks more. If you all "need" to drink ... please stick to beer / wine. These are tolerated at the state park, but liquor isn't. Getting plowed on bullblasters is a great way to get kicked out of the park and be on the "banned" list - something I personally do not want. The idea behind this camp-out is for all of us with or without families to relax, have some fun, hang out, and have a nice time. SpoCon is a few weeks after this, so there is plenty of gathering time for the 21+ folks. Not trying to sound like a fuddy-duddy, but this event is really for everyone and not to be a big ass party. We have plenty of those Yes, I enjoy those too, but I also enjoy events like this. So, starting the 18th (or there abouts) you need so reserve your spots! This should be a great time for all.

Are there RV hook-ups on the campsites designated?

Re: The Great HOOD Family & Kids Campout
Ok.. Looking at the reservation system. I see that you have to pay the full amount at the time of the reservation.. (not just the $10 fee) Here's what the total cost for the 2 nights looks like: Campsite Standard Farragut State Park, ID 052, WHITETAIL Arriving: Fri Jul 16 2010 Leaving: Sun Jul 18 2010 Length of Stay: 2 (nights) # of Occupants: 8 Camping Fee:28.00 (2 nights @ 14.00/night) Reservation Fee:10.00 Taxes:2.28 Order Total:$40.28 Now, as you can see, a tent space for the 2 nights with fees and taxes costs around $40. BUT, you can have more than one tent on the site if it fits in your space and up to 8 people. However, you are only allowed 1 car at that price, extra vehicles are $5.00/night payable at the park at the time you check in. The tent pads in these spaces (Whitetail Camp Area Spots # 051 - 061) range in size from 16ft x 12ft down to 13ft x 10ft depending on which space you book. The rules I see don't mention a limit on number of tents in a space as long as they fit in the Tent Pad on the space. So you could probably get 2 - 6ft x 8ft or tents or maybe 3- 4ft x 5ft tents on one tent pad.. And technically, if your main vehicle is say a 28ft Class C RV (granted there are no hookups at these sites), it could probably be backed into the parking area on the space and you could still have a couple of tents on the tent pad. So it probably wouldn't be too hard for 2 people/families to share 1 space, but atleast one person out of that group has to pony up the full price of the reservation and have everyone else pay them their share.. But, if you split your space with just 1 other person/family, the cost would only be around $20 for the 2 nights plus gas/food/etc.. So.. not too bad.. ---------------------------------------------------- Somewhat off topic but possibly related: As an aside family fun item, if we get bored camping and want to spend the extra $$, a bunch of us could all cram into a few vehicles and take the 8-ish mile drive to Silverwood Theme Park/Boulder Beach Waterpark ( http://www.silverwoodthemepark.com/). Not sure what the ticket prices will be in 2010 but this year it's around $41 for general admission (age 7 and up), $22 for kids aged 3-7, and $22 for seniors (65 and older). It's one price for BOTH the Theme Park and the Waterpark and they don't sell separate tickets for each. And Parking is around $4.00. Anyways.. Just a thought.

Re: The Great HOOD Family & Kids Campout
Yes... you can have 8 peeps in your spot. We're having 5. We'll be up Thursday night through Sunday afternoon. LCG is right -- the spots are not that much money, and an extra vehicle fee is $10.
The spots are filling up in Whitetail already. Seriously folks. If you want a spot, or share a spot, make your resevations -- if you are unsure if you are going to have the days off (corporate stuff) -- make them anyway. there is a $10 cancellation fee and maybe some other HOODie will be able to use the spot if you can't! See!
We should look into group rate or something for Silverwood...

Maybe I'll have to take a day off for some mountain biking and stop by afterwards. Favorite ride is just east of Farrugut.

Re: The Great HOOD Family & Kids Campout
Update, as far as I know this is what we have: - SomeCallMeTim (Martin) Family Camp - Site 050
- RynDog (Ryno) / HowieTim (Hathaway) Family Camp - Site 051
- Ladycompgeek Family Camp - Site 054
- Stretch Family Camp - Site 055
- Sman (Carver) Family Camp - Site 060
You you don't have a slot yet, there are only 1 or 2 left near this area, though the campground is fairly small, anywhere would work. All campsites will sell out inthe next few days (the last two days most of them have gone). So please, get a spot. It costs a totaly of $55 up front to hold a spot. Go reserve a spot here. We are getting very excited!
